At 2:18PM today, October 3rd, anyone with a smartphone turned on in the United States is going to get a notification, but don't freak out!
FEMA has scheduled a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System to make sure the system is working properly to inform the nation of a national emergency. These are the same ones you've heard on TV.
Cellphones can now actually receive EAS alerts, and you'll probably be receiving one this afternoon with a message that reads:
"PRESIDENTIAL ALERT - THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."
Everyone's phones are probably going to be going off today so remember not to panic because it's just a test. If you want to learn more about the test, click here.
