John Mayer 'Berated' By Taylor Swift Fans After He Joins TikTok

John Mayer is officially on TikTok and Taylor Swift fans aren't pleased.

In light of the fandom coming together to roast Ginny & Georgia over their "sexist" joke about the pop icon's love life, Swifties then turned their attention towards Mayer. The singer, 43, joined the social media platform on Monday (March 1) and was met with a flood of comments scolding him for his soured romance with the superstar. The pair dated in 2009 when he was 32 and the star was just 19. They reportedly split in 2010. While Mayer simply shared a video of a him pretending to not know how to "flip the camera" on his smartphone, Swifties were specific with their intent. "John don't you think 19 was too young?" one user wrote. Other fans simply quoted lyrics to Swift's 2010 song, "Dear John," which she wrote about the singer.

After seemingly sifting through the comments, Mayer acknowledged her fans in a follow-up post of him nodding along. "POV: You're berating me and I'm hearing you out," he captioned the clip, adding, "I'm m here (for you)." As one would expect, the comments kept coming in, so Mayer shared a third video of him singing an impromptu song about the fan interaction. "That was a weird day," he captioned the post, adding, "More fun tomorrow."

Earlier that day, Swift stuck up for herself after the Netflix joke went viral. "Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back. How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse sh*t as FuNnY," the singer wrote on Twitter, adding, "Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn’t look cute on you Happy Women’s History Month I guess."
