A Fairfax Woman Is Searching for Her Father's Stolen Ashes

A woman in Fairfax, Virginia is asking the local community for help locating a package containing an urn with her father's ashes inside.

June Kim told NBC Washington that her father passed away in December and his ashes were to be delivered to her house. Somehow they were shipped to her previous address, but by the time she arrived to pick them up, the package was gone. Former neighbors told her they saw the package sitting on the porch, but by the next morning it had disappeared.

She thinks the package may have been discarded in the woods off Latona Court, near Fair Oaks Mall, which is just down the street from the apartment complex.

The package was marked Priority Mail and contains a brass urn that says "Appa 1962/2020" and a blue velvet box.

USPS inspectors are looking into the case, and anyone who finds the package or any of it's contents should contact the post office in Fairfax County.
