Why Your Fitness Routine Makes You Look Younger

There are so many reasons why working out regularly does wonders for your body. Firstly, when you keep your cardiovascular fitness in check, it strengthens your heart and helps to fight against heart disease — which is so crucial for moms as you want to be around a long time for your kids! Another major benefit of incorporating physical fitness into your daily schedule is that it can do wonders for your mental health as well.

One thing you may have wondered about over the years is whether or not your fitness routine can actually make you look younger and we're here to tell you that the answer is yes! Not only is exercise great for your body and health overall, but if you stick with a regular exercise regime, it can actually make you look younger as well. Seem kind of hard to believe? It's simply not too good to be true, we promise.

Let's dig right into all of the details regarding why your fitness routine makes you look younger!

Exercise Slows Cell Aging

One way in which keeping up your fitness routine actually works to keep you looking younger is that regular exercise actually works to slow down cells from aging. According to Health.com, when you think of the aging process in regards to your chromosomes, regular exercise can truly work wonders and perhaps even "turn" things off. Yes, you read that right! Keep reading.

There are these things called telomeres, which are "the caps at the end of chromosomes that control aging". Health.com explains it that telomeres become shorter as you age through the years. They report that recent studies have found a link between "regular exercise and the lengthening of the telomeres", which may lean itself towards "slowing the clock" a bit in terms of the aging process. We like the sound of that!

It Helps Nourish Skin Cells

As moms, we know that a lot of us go get the facials that are supposed to fight aging and spend a small fortune at Sephora buying all the latest skincare that's said to make our skin look and feel like a 12-year-old. Sometimes it takes more than a good skincare routine in order to keep your skin looking young and fresh though.

According to Healthy Human, when you increase blood flood, which is a no-brainer for exercise, it sends out more oxygen and and keeps them "health and vital" as they carry away waste. Furthermore, when we sweat, "our pores open and release the build up inside of them" through exercise, thus releasing those toxins that can exist underneath the skin and cause breakouts, age spots and wrinkling. Doesn't this make you want to go run around the block and come in and stare in the mirror for a few moments just to see if you can tell the difference?

Think About Posture

A lot of the time when we stop and think about the aging process, you can't help but think about one's overall posture and how at times their back can no longer stand up in a tall position when they get to a certain age. Well Spring School of Allied Health brings up the very fair point that posture totally counts in terms of helping you retain your youthfulness.

Some of what happens to our spines over the years can't be changed, but there is a good chunk that can be prevented with regular exercise. For example, "strength training helps build our muscles to support our skeletons, particularly our spines, which keeps us taller for longer". They also make note that there have been some correlations in recent years which have shown a "link between our psychological state and posture", and since it's been proven time and time again the magic potion that exercise can be for our overall state of mind, there's good reason to think that "it helps our posture on the psychological level as well".
